All of our Varsity Athletic Teams receive direct attention from their perspective strength and conditioning staff member specifically assigned to them during their designated training times. Each member of the Strength and Conditioning staff not only works directly with the athletes, but the sport coaches and Athletic Trainers to implement the most effective year-round training for each team. Through continuous and diligent hard work, and dedication to physical improvement for their sport, our strength coaches assist our student-athletes to attain the highest possible levels of physical and mental preparedness for their chosen sport and life beyond.

Discipline, Work Ethic and Consistency is what allows us to keep our edge over our opponents. All of which are honed with our Strength and Conditioning Staff year round.

Every sport here at UIC has a consistent, year-round program in order to develop our student-athletes to achieve the highest possible level of athletic success.  We implement various styles of periodization at different times of the competitive and non-competitive portions of the year to keep our athletes in peak physical and mental condition.  We focus on making our athletes more athletic and injury free as opposed to ready for a weightlifting meet.

The UIC Strength and Conditioning Department is committed to a holistic improvement of our student-athletes' mind and body, for their college career and beyond. Luck is for the ill-prepared, our student-athletes are ready for competition.

"...the final goal of competition exercises in Olympic Sports may almost always be related to the capacity to express power produced by the speed of movement and by the force of overcoming external resistance. Consequently, the training process, focused on improving the sport result, represents the process of increasing the power output of competition exercise."
